Phone Phon t To Wasatch Flying Codes Tightened By Federal Government Drunks Ruled From Air Longer Solo Periods Re Before Licenses Licenses' Are Given WASHINGTON April 21 AP AP- AP Air traffic has increased to a point requiring the stiffening of federal regulations aimed at its control In 1926 the commerce department paid down the first set of rules for forthe forthe the air intended to safeguard and facilitate commercial aeronautics and it has now undertaken a revision sion of time the original code which will result in a more stringent set of provisions By the new rules aviation tars ors will be required to have two hours solo flying Instead of fifty before training new pilots Persons flying private planes must have lave ten hours alone in tile the air before be- be ore fore obtaining their certificates Pilots and mechanics must pass their examinations for with witha a grade of 70 per cent in each cads subject sub sub- lect included instead of with an average of 70 per cent for all sub At least two years actual experience ence in engine maintenance and repair will be required from engine mechanics Explosives other than fuel may not lawfully be carried in airplanes nor may drunken or drugged persons be taken up as passengers by a licensed pilot Pilots will be forbidden to undertake under under- take aerial acrobatics at any level under 1500 feet and they will b be further forbidden from alighting or flying off from any public street or highway without special zion sion In order to make make- sure that pilots have retained their original competency ency time the new regulations will ivill authorize au- au time the secretary of commerce commerce- to require any persons seeking a renewal of aeronautical certificates to be reexamined if the step Is considered necessary
