I Sixth taper.! rimriiixiu.-, in the ku tita- MKM". Without entering into more minute mi-nute examination of tbe remaining EpisUcs, I will proceed to consider some of the prophecies of the Gospel dispensation. Prominent among these prophecies prophe-cies arc these which predict the establishment of a new disjwnsatlon in the last days. Our Savior calls It "the regeneration," and says Uiat In that dispensation "the Son of man shall sit "on Uie throne of Ills glory," and tho Twelve "shall sit upou twelve thrones." (Matt. six: 230 Peter says that Christ is to be Iu heaven until this new dispensation "tho times of restitution of all things" comes. (Acts lili-l.) " Jude quotes a prophecy delivered by Enoch about this dispensation: 'Behold the Iord coniclh with ten thousand of bis Saints to execute judgment upon all." (Judc II, 15.) Taul (2Thcss.IL) is very clear and minute concerning Uie events Uiat had to transpire between his own lime and the dispensation of Uie last days. (I) A "falling away" a general apostacy was to take place first, and f2) "that nisn ol sin, the son of perdition, be revealed.' re-vealed.' II is further pointed out Uiat the power of apostacy was already, al-ready, at theUmeof the writing of Paul, secretly at work, only there was something that hindered this power from appearing openly. But as soon as this obstacle (tho ltoman Imperial Iwner) had been removed, Uie "man of sin," i. e., Uie embodiment of Uie spirit of apostacy, would boldly appear. nuu iiiia uuiu til ciu nuuiu uudi his sway over the world until de- strayed by the "brightness of the coming" of the Lord. (v. tt), and this apc-tate jower Is further described de-scribed as one opposing and exalting himself above every othcrauthority, or a "god," both on earth aud iu heaven. He is "Is less" and "slt-teth "slt-teth in the temple," that is, he is a "Christian" not an infidel lower-Ills lower-Ills coming b the work of Satan, aud is accompanied by "powers, sius and lying wondcrs,"deceilugali those that would not believe the truth. Anions the doctrines that should be advanced by this antato power H noted iiarticularly as a diparturo frc m tlio faith, ''doctrines ''doc-trines ol devils." also a prohibition prohibi-tion of marriage, whiih wa a revival re-vival of heathenism (fee I Timothy, iv, 15), all of wldch was fulfilled to the letter iu tbe revolution from Christiauism. to Bomanlsm. Nothing Noth-ing can be clearer, from these lropheclcs of Paul, than this: Short-y Short-y after his own time, a period of ajostacy would follow, during which ail kinds of lies were to be promulgated iu Uie name of God. But tills lriod of ajw-tacy would agaiu be followed bya new dispensation dispen-sation of truth anil light, the coming of the Son of God in glory. John was the last of the AposUes. He lived to see Uie spirit of apo-tacy still nioro do-veloied do-veloied than did Paul. In speaking speak-ing of It he savs Uiat --many antichrists" anti-christs" had already come (1 John ii. 1S-1S; Iv, .".). To him it was given to see. In his apocali ptlc vis-ionc, vis-ionc, the calamities that crushed the Itoiuau empire, thus making way for the "nan of sin," or the "little horn" of Daniel or tho anti-ehri-t, namely the great church of the work! with her jientltical "image" in Borne. Ho was Jie-r-mitted to sec the suljugaUon and flight to thu wilderness of the Church of Christ and the subsequent subse-quent darkness that followed. But he alo, like Uie former seers and prophets of the lord was rmitted to behold in the future the first rays of the new- dispensation, the Millennial Millen-nial kingdom, to be established, never to be overthrown. Irt us iiau-e for one moment aud reflect- If thewonlof God issure, this fact is surely established, that the reign of nnti-chrbt shall lie ful-lowed ful-lowed by a new, glorious dipena-tlon, dipena-tlon, the millennial reign of the Son of God. There is scarcely an event in the Scriptures more frequently fre-quently predicted than this. All the previous dlqcnsations of God are nothing but preparations for this U10 last and mo't glorious ot atl, and at tbo commencement of which the hosts of heaven join the Saints below be-low In shouting Ilosannah! lioon-nab! lioon-nab! llosathnh! "The kingdoms of tills w orld are become tho kingdoms king-doms of our lord and of His Chri't; and he shall reign for ever and ever." During the Adamlc dlsjn-satlon, dlsjn-satlon, which continued while man was ret without sin, God revealed himself. So also during thu patriarchal patri-archal dlspcnwitiou. God taught man how to offer sacrifices and to conduct worship. The, Mcsalc dispensation was established through revelation, continued Uirougli centuries cen-turies until -I'M years before Christ. The New Testament dispensation or Gospel dispensation waswondcr-fullyrieh waswondcr-fullyrieh in rcvelatious, which until un-til Uie priesthood was tiken away "unto God" (Rev. vii:5): and now can we believe that revewUon then and there ceacd? 81311 tho last dispensation, the most glorious of all, the millennial reign of Christ,be established without revelaUon, only through the wisdom of man, which, by the way, is foolishness to God? No! Euch a view Is madness. It may be sound, worldly theology. But it is not tho word of God. All the prophecies that have been ful-filcd ful-filcd so far, have in that fulfilment been accompanied by divine revelation. revela-tion. Those prophecies that remain to be fulfilled will as surely Iks accompanied accompa-nied by revelations. When Christ first came His coming was heralded by angels, by the Spirit of God operating ope-rating on men; HI- ministry was followed by revelations on the mount, In Gethssmane, and the Spirit was poured out upon His followers. fol-lowers. A nd yet. at His first coming, com-ing, He appeared iu humility, despised de-spised by men in general. During Uie ages past God has tried the humau race in every respect. Tlio patriarchal eUsnsatfon ended In a corruption which even Uie deluge de-luge could not check. Tho Mosaic dispensation ended in the rejection and di'pcrslou cf the covenant people. peo-ple. Tho Gospel dispensation ended In the apo-tacy of the apostolic churches and the reign of Antichrist. But God is prepared to gain tbe victory vic-tory yet. He promised in the end of time to establish that kingdom w hich shaU stand forev er, never to be overthrown, over-thrown, aud hence the necessity of continuous revelation. (To be conUnoed I |
