Show An Ancient Instrument. The oldest piano in America Is said to be now 141 years old. It was made by Johannes Christian Scbrti-berin Scbrti-berin the year 1743 (which date is engraved on the name bnanl.) The case Is of solid mahogany, inlaid with boxwood. Its compass is four and one-third octaves, one string to euch note; length, four feet and seven inches; width, twenty-two inches; and lias a idal which is the left hand comtiartment. and is merely pulled by the hand. The legs are capinl near the Insertion with a broad brass band, handsomely handsome-ly ligured; about two Inches wide. They are neatly turned, and raise,! with hollow rings, and taper to wards the bottom, where they are mortised with brass castors. "We believe," says Mr. Slief, tho owner, 'it to lie the oldest phno in America, Ameri-ca, and the most perfect of its age In all the world. The gentleman's father from horn we received the instrument obtained it from Michael Halfe, comjicserof "The Hohembn Girl," and It was once, we believe, the property of the composer Lud-wig Lud-wig Hecthovcn."
