Following are extracs fn m the letter: "July 2. blowing a gale and the waves are breaking over the city. The shipping Is In great danger. JuiyS. A ova Scotia ship, hng li-h Lark and steamboat went down last night. The bark went ashore near the consulate aud the Xova Scotia ship is on tho rocks fist going to pieces." The letter was evidently evi-dently sent on board a mall steamer golDg north before the storm abated.
