Show i'lrst District Court. The court at Provo resumed sea. sion Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock- Tbe jury in the ease of Bunnell vs. W. II. Brown aud Thomas Fowler, Fow-ler, action for damages for false Imprisonment, Im-prisonment, returned a verdict for plaintiff In the sum of $3000. Magdalene Rsvolr asked for $2000 on account of Injuries sustained by iter through slander. She alleges that Jacob Revoir has spoken of her as a "drunken woman," a "bad woman," etc Some testimony in the caso was taken, after wlilch counsel for defendant asked for a non-suit, there being no evidence to support the complaint. Tbo court granted the motion and discharged tho jury from consideration of the matter. John B. Milner brought nil action against tbe city ot Provo for $1000 Jamages done to land of plaintlfTby overflow of ditches, by which plaintiff plain-tiff claims his meadow land was rendered valueless and the foundation founda-tion of his house injured. The case having been tried before, several of the panel were passed for cause, and the Court ordered a special spe-cial venire to ls3ne for five jurors. A map of the locality showing Milner's land nud the defendant's ditch was placed on tho blackboard. In the afternoon 8CeIon witnesses were examined to ascertain the extent ex-tent of the damage done, and whether the city was responsible for it or not. |
