They spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Christensen (Clara Clyde) at San Diego, also Mr. and Mrs. Vern Bird, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Harmon (Louise Bird) at Los Angeles, and Mrs. A. C. Bird of Springville, who has been spending the winter in California. They spent several days with their daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Pace and family at San Jose, and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ned Clyde, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Cook (Ila Clyde), and Mr. and Mrs. George Russell at Berkeley. Berke-ley. They also spent a short time with Mr. and Mrs. Randall Roy-lance. Roy-lance. While visiting their daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law at San Jose, they attended a Palo Alto stake road show entertainment, in which the act which their daughter daugh-ter Pauline wrote and directed, took first place. New. York, N. Y., March 14 Floyd W. Crandall, son of Mrs. E. L. Crandall of 234 South First East street, Springville, has completed com-pleted the requirements and will be awarded the degree of Master of Science in Retailing, Dean Charles M. Edwards of New York University's School of Retailing, announced last night. Mr. Crandall attended Springville Spring-ville high school and later Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University, where he was awarded the degree of Bachelor Bache-lor of Science in 1946. During the war he served with the army air force, spending 33 months overseas. over-seas. For the past year Mr. CrandaH participated in a unique program of store-service, combining classroom class-room training with practical store experience. Under the plan he worked eight weeks full-time and sixteen weeks part-time at two of New York City's largest de-parement de-parement stores, receiving while he worked the standard rates of pay. "By this store service Mr. Crandall Cran-dall not only had an opportunity to be partly self-supporting, but he also received invalauble experience experi-ence in the application of the principles prin-ciples of retailing," Dean Edwards said. |
