Show SECOND, FOURTH, & SIXTH WARD EXPLORER TEAMS ARE VICTORS ,2, Tsploror basketball got off to a ,,d start Friday night of last with three scrappy teams -r,Tii"'- t0 ti,ko thoir places in twinning: bracket. The games, wore supervised by Glen t jl; stake athletic director, were ""hibitions of enthusiasm and good 'rtsmanship. In the first bout, fjrst ward was pitted against "stroniror. more experienced Sec-' Sec-' ward club, bowing under a tli score of 27 to 7. Dean Van nttcn showed up especially well ir the Second warders making ? points to place as high score ,jn but also giving strong sup-"rt'were sup-"rt'were Blaine Van Patten, Van Mivan and Thomas. Graves and gale were scorers for the First ,-ard team. The second game of the evening jrdich was to have been between Jhe Third and Fourth ward clubs ,-as forfeited by the Third ward, counting one win for the Fourth. The most evenly matched game of the evening was the final one jetween the Sixth and Seventh rard teams, the final score read-21 read-21 for the Sixth and 14 for ;J Seventh. Starring for the vic- torious club was Tingey with 15 pointers, Meecham with 4, and Houtz with 2; for the losers counters count-ers were more evenly distributed between Gurr, Larsen, Averett, Blackett and Cook. Referees for the games were G. Clark and R. Francis. This weeks' schedule calls for three games to be played tonight, December 8th in the Ladies gym to which the public is invited: Eighth versus Ninth, 6 p.m.; Third versus First, 7 p.m.; Sixth versus Second, 8 p.m.; Fourth, Mapleton and Seventh, bve. |
