Show PATRIOTIC ESSAYS BRING RECOGNITION An Americanism week activity sponsored by the American Legion Le-gion auxiliary to post No. 30 in the form of an essay contest for children in the fifth and sixth grades of Bingham Central and Copperton grade schools concluded conclud-ed Friday with presentation of awards. At a program at Central school Mrs- Rex T. Tripp, Mrs. David C. Lyon and Mrs. D. J. Sullivan, auxiliary representatives, presented pre-sented books on the lives of Washington and Lincoln to Dar-lene Dar-lene Morley, student in the sixth grade and daughter of Mr- and Mrs- C. A. Morley, and Margaret (Peggy) Stringham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence String-ham String-ham and a fifth grade pupil. Honorable mention went to Louise Huffman of sixth grade, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Clin-ton Huffman; and Dora Dean Christensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Christensen and a fifth grader. Mrs. Mike Brisk of Copperton presented Joyce Miller, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Miller Mil-ler and a fifth grade student at Copperton grade school, with first prize for her essay on the Life of Washington. Honorable mention went to Tommy Brown, son of Mr- and Mrs. Harry Brown and in the fifth grade at Copper-ton. |
