Show THREE TEAMS IN MERCHANTS' LEAGUE ON TOP Francis Hazel Tops Scores With A High 214; Commercial Opens Tonight Under the American Bowling Congress supervision, the Merchants Merch-ants bowling league opened ''play here Monday night to start off an extensive fall and winter season in the bowling sport here with six teams competing. Tagged as the "fast" league of I the three leagues organized, teams in this league consist of players who are veterans of the game. Teams entered include Art Bowling, Bowl-ing, Friel's, Humphrey Cleaners, Morgans, Mortensen Plumbing-Smitties Plumbing-Smitties Texaco arid Western Auto Supply. In the opening games, Morgans, I Humphreys, and Mortensens each 1 counted four points while the re- maining three were losing that many. Francis Hazel was high man of the evening with a high game score of 214 and three game average of 195. Wally Patrick and Ed Poulson each averaged 172, with Gordon Pierce close behind with a 171 average. In the team average, Morgan's counted 161; Humphreys, 157; Mortensens, 148; Art Bowling, 149; Friel's, 134 and Westerns, 124. The Inter-City bowling league will bowl again Monday, Sept. 22, beginning at 8 p. m. Commercial League . . . All teams in the third Springville Spring-ville ABC bowling league, the Commercial league, will bowl tonight, to-night, beginning at 8 p. m., announces an-nounces Bob .Christian, secretary of the league. Teams who are in this league include: Culligan Soft Water, Springville Herald, Hay-mond Hay-mond Drug Co., Holland Furnace, Springville Lions Club and the Anderson An-derson No. 2 team. |
