Show First District Federated Womens Clubs Divided Two slates of officers were elected by acclamation Saturday Sat-urday to head (lie two new districts formed by a division of . j,e old "lirst district" of the Utali Federation of Women's " clubs, at the spring district con- vention held at Orem. Mrs. George W. Worthen, Provo, will serve as president of the north district which will extend from i Provo northward to Lehi, while s Mrs. Wendell Erlandson, Payson, 5 will be president of the district extending from Springville south v to Nephi. i Wishing to retain the word ; "first" in their names, since the ' old first district was the initial ' group in Utah to federate, the districts dis-tricts adopted the names "Timpa-1 "Timpa-1 nogos First district for the northern nor-thern group and "Nebo, First district" dis-trict" for the southern group. Nebo Ne-bo district will have 29 clubs and Timpanogos, 22. However, one of the Timpanogos clubs has eight 1 sections, each of which is the equivalent of one club. Working with Mrs. Worthen will be the f ollowing slate of officers : Vice-president, Mrs. Frank Gais-ford, Gais-ford, American Fork; second vice-president, vice-president, Mrs. Lynn Johnson of Pleasant Grove; secretary, M!rs. , Maurice Train, Lehi; corresponding correspond-ing secretary, Mrs. J. Edwin Stein, Provo; treasurer, Mrs. Dean Park, Orem; historian, Mrs. Estelle Fen-ton, Fen-ton, Pleasant Grove, and auditor, Mrs. Orval Wadley,. American Fork. Mrs. Erlandson's slate of officers includes first vice-president, Mrs. C. R. Lomax, Nephi; second vice-president, vice-president, Mrs. Ernest Knudsen, Spanish Fork; secretary, Mrs. C. A. Franks, Springville; corresponding correspond-ing secretary, Mrs. Evelyn Davies, Payson; treasurer, Mrs. Phyllis Smith, Spanish Fork; historian, Mrs. James R. Stanley, Nephi and auditor, Mrs. Verl Whiting of Springville. Guest speaker at the convention was Carlos Grimm, Mexican consul to the United States stationed in the intermountain area, who spoke on Pan-American day. He traced the progress of civilization from China westward around the world to the near east, Athens, Rome, Paris, London and now New York. "Soon it will be the west coast, we have the responsibility now; I say Ve' because all of the Pan-American Pan-American people have it. We must work out the problem together," he declared. Mrs. Sterling M. Ercanbrack of Provo, president of the Utah Federation Fed-eration of Women's clubs, said the division of the First district into two new districts marks a great milestone in the federation's history. his-tory.
