Show Juniors Organize Legion Auxiliary Unit A SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR WAS HELD ON FRIDAY evening by a group of friends in the form of a Hallowe'en party in the spacious recreation hall of the W. W. Clyde home, with Louise Clyde acting as hostess. Elaborate decorations in the form of huge lighted pumpkins, cornstalks, and orange and black tapers and candles, were employed throughout the entertaining rooms and about the large open fireplace. 9 : The organization of a junior unit to the Springville American Legion auxiliary, to be composed of daughters and sisters of world war veterans in the Legion, was completed at a meeting at the home of Mrs. Inez Chader, junior advisor, Monday evening. A large group of girls attended. Mrs. Janice Taylor was elected chairman of the group to assume the duties of president. Other officers offi-cers elected included: Mrs. Evelyn Reid, vice-chairman; Bernice Chader, Cha-der, treasurer; Norma Lee Reynolds, Rey-nolds, chaplain; Venice Pennington, historian. As is the custom in the auxiliary, Mrs. Taylor will appoint her secretary, and two sergeants-at-arms are yet to be elected. Committee chairmen named are: Anna Lee Walker, Americanism; Barbara Burgi, hospitalization; Viola Gene Miner, membership; Edith Giles, poppy Louise Aver-ett, Aver-ett, hostess arrangement; Betty Rae Roberts, legislative ; Betty Rae Sumsion, community service; Louise Long, music; Nana Lee Reynolds, accompanist; Beverly Boyer, reporter, and Amy Giles, entertainment chairman. It was decided to hold the meetings meet-ings regularly on the second Monday Mon-day of each month. The first meeting entertainment featured a review of the book, "Goodbye, Mr. Chips," given in an interesting manner by Bernice Chader. MRS. PARLEY PERRY ENTERTAINED AT DINNER at her home at Mapleton on Sunday, Sun-day, complimenting her husband on the occasion of his sixty-sixth birthday. Covers were arranged for the following family members: Mr. and Mrs. James Perry of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Perry, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernel Perry and three children of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Taylor and two children of Springville, and the honored guest and hostess. A delicious luncheon was served buffet style early in the evening from a long table centered with a huge pumpkin. The group later enjoyed dancing and games. Attending were Louise Clyde, Phyllis Bird, Doris Wing, Helen Christensen, Marjorie Simkins, Lena Carnesecca, Lucille Oakley, Shirley Marchbanks, Wilna Brown, Cecelia Maycock, Veon Bird, David Da-vid Welch, Cal Johnson, Max Morgan, Mor-gan, Reed Brockbank, Richard Reynolds, Don Frandsen, Malcolm Condie, Junior Burgi, Lloyd Ras-mussen, Ras-mussen, Dan Lewis and Harold Mitchell, the latter three of Provo. FACULTY WIVES WERE ENTERTAINED THURSDAY afternoon at the home of Mrs. Paul Walker, with Mrs. George Bone assisting hostess. A discussion of plans for entertainment enter-tainment was led by Mrs. W. W. Brockbank during a short business session. The program featured a book review by Mrs. E. S. Groesbeck Groes-beck and piano selections by Mrs. LeRoy Erickson. A nicely arranged luncheon was served at the close of the entertainment enter-tainment to the following mem-ers: mem-ers: Mrs. Lamar Hendrickson, Mrs. Stanley Powelson, Mrs. LeRoy Erickson, Mrs. Reece Anderson, Mrs. Art Gilbert, new faculty members' wives; Mrs. Hugh Baxter, Bax-ter, Mrs. Victor Frandsen, Mrs. Clarence Tuttle, Mrs. A. E. Jacob-sen, Jacob-sen, Mrs. W. H. Anderson, Mrs. Art Hughes, Mrs. Carl Nelson, Mrs. Glen Turner, Mrs. J. F. Wingate, Mrs. E. S. Groesbeck, Mrs. Glen Coffman, Mrs. Ina Christensen, Mrs W. W. Brockbank, Mrs. Warren War-ren Bea'rdall, Mrs. William T. Tew, Mrs. Bone and Mrs. Walker. STEWART WHITING WAS HONORED with a party prior to his leaving on a mission to Texas, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jensen on Thursday evening. The group enjoyed en-joyed a delicious dinner and visiting. visit-ing.
