Show LOCAL MAN IS MADE MAJOR IN U. S. ARMY Warwick Palfreyman of this city has been made a major in the U. S. Army, according to word received re-ceived from White Horse, Yukon Territory, Canada, where he has been stationed for the past year with the 18th Engineers. Major Palfreyman joined the local unit of the National Guard when it was organized here in 1940, with the commission of second sec-ond lieutenant. In March, 1941, he left with the unit for California, and was stationed at various camps on the coast until March, 1942, when he was transferred to Vancouver, Wash. He remained there only a short time before going go-ing to Canada. He was made a first lieutenant in June, 1941, and was advanced to captain in April, 1942, and to a major in April, of this year. Major Palfreyman is a graduate of the local High school and the Brigham Young university, Provo. Before his enlistment, he was employed em-ployed in the civil service position of clerk at the local postoffice. He is a son of Mrs. Sarah Palfreyman Pal-freyman of this city. His wife is the former lone Averett, also of Springville. |
