Show RANGE SWEETHEART TO BE SELECTED Senior high school girls of Springville were invited today by the Pioneer Celebration, Inc., at Ogden, to submit their names for entry in a "Sweetheart of the Range" contest through which the official "queen" of the 1940 celebration, cele-bration, July If to 24, will be chosen. Entries may be made through your local high school, or by writing writ-ing direct to the Pioneer Days office, of-fice, Ben Lomond Hotel, Ogden. This is no beauty contest. The "sweetheart" must be able to ride a horse, have a good scholastic record and a love for the outdoors, have poise and the ability to meet the public. The celebration's "sweeheart" committee of judges will decide which girl best fits these requirements at a judging contest to be held in Ogden July 20th. Contestants and their chaper-ones chaper-ones will be furnished food and lodging during the contest period. The winner will be given her choice between an all expense-paid trip to the Golden Gate International Interna-tional fair at San Francisco, or a two-year scholarship to Weber Junior college at Ogden. She will lead street parades, rodeo entries, and otherwise "pretty up" and dignify principal public features of the festival. This offer is good until July 1. Girls from this year's graduating class only are eligible for the contest. |
