Show Former Springville Resident Praises City's Advancement promise of its permanency! "Springville is to be congratulated congra-tulated its Municipal Power Co., its city officers, and all who helped to make of it the most beautifully lighted city in Utah in 1940. "May its message of hope and chner, and faith, remain with a warmth and glow, in our hearlH and through the New Year, and may God grant its glory never fade. "I am a daughter of the late Thad. T. Hatch, a Springville pioneer, pio-neer, and Emily Clegg Hatch, who, at 84, still lives there, and who with me is justly proud of Our Home Town!" i Following is a letter received by the Herald from Mrs. Maude Hatch G. Benedict of Ogden: "On Christmas night, I passed through Springville, and never was I more thrilled, nor more proud of my home town! For its beauty was breath-taking a veritable ver-itable fairyland! The seasonal decorations dec-orations flung out a message of good cheer, of culture, refinement, advancement, modernity, and uplifting up-lifting appeal, to all who were so fortunate as to pass that way! "Tears of joy (or was it patriotism patriot-ism for my home town) came to my eyes, and I was so proud! "There was something about the Christmas-lighted Springville Main street that gripped the heart. Was it only memories brought back of youthful years spent there, of seeing the first electric lights placed on the corner cor-ner of each city block in Springville, Spring-ville, or was it the advancement made there since I, a carefree child, thrilled at the sight of electric elec-tric lighted streets and homes? Was it pride in its achievement, its culture, its talented ones, its fame as the 'Art City?' Yes, all of these and more! For it sent out a message to me, and to every person, per-son, from no matter where, who passed through my home town during the Christmas holiday week a message of hope, of peace, of joy, and of faith in its ability, pride in its beauty, and |
