Show CITY WILL SEEK WP A ASSISTANCE ON NEW PROJECTS Because of the scarcity of WPA workers in Bingham Canyon, there has been difficulty in planning plan-ning projects as the cost of transporting trans-porting workers is high. The city council is at present considering consider-ing the consolidation of several projects in such a manner that transportation costs may be reduced re-duced to a minimum. Application Applica-tion for WPA assistance on new projects will be made before July 1, Mayor Ed Johnson stated this week. Council members favor a plan whereby concreting the Dry Fork water tunnel, work on remodeling remodel-ing the Civic Center and possibly improvements at the cemetery will be underway simultaneously. simultaneous-ly. If WPA projects can be combined com-bined in this manner laborers can be transported to Bingham to work and the trucks used in bringing them here can be used in hauling supplies and on projects pro-jects during the working day. An estimate of the cost of Civic Ci-vic Center and cemetery improvements im-provements will be released soon, Mayor Johnson says. The city council members desire to work out a program to give the biggest return on city expenditures has caused some delay in beginning work on the Civic Center, Mr. Johnson stated. |
