Show Supervisor Gives New Aims in Education at PTA Clarence Wendell, elementary grade supervisor of the Nebo school district, spoke to a large audience of parents and teachers at the Grant school PTA meeting last Wednesday evening. In developing devel-oping the subject, "New Aims In Education," Mr. Wendell stressed the fact that to help our children face and meet the problems of an uncertain tomorrow, parents and teachers both must observe the following three practices: First: Help children to build faith and confidence in themselves. This may be done by having faith in and respect for every child, by letting children experience success in things they try to do, and by letting children do those things which his growth and development indicate he will be able to do. Second: Help develop cooperation coopera-tion and a feeling- of eooA will among children toward others. Third: Try constantly to stimulate stimu-late in children an urge to learn. The meeting was conducted bv Mrs. Theron W. Killpack, PTA president. After the opening prav-er, prav-er, Mrs. Verl Whiting, secretary, read the minutes of the previous meeting. A report on membershin dues was given by Brs. Killpack and a raise from 25 cents to 5(5 cents was approved by those present pres-ent to help meet rising state PTA expenses and to nabele the local organization to retain 25 cents from each membership to be used toward local expenses and projects. A need for support of a Visual Aids Program was presented by Ray Clark, fifth grade teacher and it was proposed and passed bv those in attendance that each family pay 50 cents per child or $1 per family for the purpose of renting educational films to be used in the elementary grades during dur-ing the year. Mrs. Killpack announced the vear's project il to purchase a Tape Recorder machine. Principal LeRoy Erickson then demonstrated demonstrat-ed the usefulness of the machine by playing a recording which had been made by the Sixth grade under the direction of Aaron Card, teacher. Principal Erickson reminded the parents of the observance of National Na-tional Education Week and stated that the Parent-Teacher conferences confer-ences are in progress and that many parents ' have visited the school this week. A lovely autumn floral centerpiece center-piece on the lace-covered table had been arranged by Mrs. Barney Dougall, hospitality chairman. The meeting was closed with prayer.
