Mary Carnesecca, Vdenl, assisted by her officers, vice pres ident, Janet Carnesecca; secre tary, Rhoda Hansen; hf" Mary Bleggi and directors Betn Bird, Ruth Hooper and Ins i Roun dy have painted the kitchen m Memorial Hall and installed new curtains in addition to purchasing complete dinnerware for twenty-five twenty-five additional servings. They have also purchased seventy-five new chili bowls, a new electric mixer and two banquet size linen tame cloths. New window screens have also been placed at the tcn,e" windows. They are very grateful for the help of JC members, Preston Pres-ton Hooper and Frank Kalkenstem who installed the cupboards tney have added to the kitchen. The 114th birthday anniversary of the Relief Society was commemorated com-memorated Tuesday of last weeK by the members of the Mapleton ward. A fine program was presented pre-sented commencing at ten o clock. The following numbers were introduced intro-duced by Amanda Binks: a special spec-ial song was sung by Beth Jensen, lyrics being written by Priscilla LeRoy; history of the Mapleton Relief Society was given by Mrs. Ardilla Perry; Joyce Bird and Grace Norwood sang two vocal duets; a story was read by Lora. Whiting; Orpha Dee Johnson led the. group in singing several Irish songs and also sang an Irish song; and Gwen Allen played two piano solos. Following the program a delicious de-licious hot luncheon was served at long tables beautiful with spring flowers. In charge of serving were Inez Harmer, Blanch Tew, Marva Whiting and Barbara Murray. The prayers were given by Afton Barker Bar-ker and Esther Hurst. Mrs. Helen Campbell is home after convalescing in the Utah Valley hospital for several weeks after being injured in an automobile automo-bile accident in which her husband James Campbell was killed. Mrs. Irene Freeman is in the Utah Valley hospital for a major operation. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tuttle and Mrs. LaNore Bills were among those who attended the temple dedication de-dication in Los Angeles last week. Mrs. Bills will spend a week or two visiting: at the home of her have had the company their TlTll oVAis, Ida., over the weekend. A Junior Gleaner Silver Comrad-erv Comrad-erv was held in the Relief Society room Monday night for the Junior Gleaners and their1 mothers of the Mapleton Second ward. A fine program pro-gram was followed by a luncheon served at tables cleverly decorated decorat-ed in silver sheaths of grain A short history of Junior Gleaners Glean-ers was given by Mrs. Jean Hal ; Miss Louise Lassard gave a talk entitled "What it means to be a Silver Gleaner"; her mother, Mrs. Ruby Lassard responded with "What it means to be a mother of a Silver Gleaner." Covers were laid for Jean Hall and Carma Frandsen, teachers, and Mrs. Marie Stone, YWMIA president; and the following girls and their mothers: Maurine Pulsifer and Mrs. Naomi Parkins; Penney and Mrs. Elberta Banks; Merlene and Mrs. Thelma DeGraw; Louise and I Mrs. Ruby Lessard; Rena and Mrs. Vera Singleton; Berniece and Mrs. son Ted and his wife. Mrs. Mary Wright was also in California for the Temple dedication. dedica-tion. Mrs. Joseph Pate and her daughter Edna Beck have recently recent-ly returned from a delightful five weeks trip to St. Louis, Mo., where they visited at the home of Mrs. Pate's mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Strausser. Before they returned home they visited Drexel Pate who is serving as a missionary in Louisiana. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Durrant of Cedar City spent several days last week at the John Parry home. They came especially to attend the basketball tournament at the field house in Provo last week. Mr. and Mrs. John Parry and their . daughter daugh-ter Helen and Wayne Peterson of Spanish Fork spent Sunday of last week as guests of their son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parry in Layton. Monday night the same group attended the wedding reception of a niece Miss Karlyn Durrant whose wedding was held in Lehi. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Whiting accompanied ac-companied by Mr. and Mrs. Bus Shields of Delta attended the funeral fun-eral services of Mrs. Martha Martin Mar-tin which were held Monday at one o'clock in Genola. Mrs. Martin is a sister to Mrs. Whiting and Mrs. Shields. Ronald Kay Tew is home on a fifteen day furlough from Ft. Lewis, Wash. He and his mother, Mrs. Jennie Tew, have recently returned re-turned from a visit to California where they have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Colorusso and their family. While in California Mrs. Tew attended the dedicatory services of the Los Angeles temple. tem-ple. Ronald Kay experts to be sent to Europe after his furlough. . Mr. and Mrs. James G. Allen spent the weekend in Cedar City visiting at the home of Mr and Mrs. Alex Williams and with Miss Alice Williams., Robert Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs Ormond Hall has joined the array and is stationed at Fort Ord, Calif Mr. and Mrs. Louis Johnson |
