Show Funeral Services Today for E. D. (Ted) Payne Funeral services will be held today, to-day, Thursday at 2 p.m., for Daniel Dan-iel Edward Payne, 73, life-long , -W ;.;' y t I A: .v.' E. D. Payne resident of Springville, who died in his sleep Sunday night, at the family residence, 279 East Center St. The strvices will be in the Fourth ward with Bishop Glenn Tipton in charge. Friends may call at the family residence before the services. Burial Bur-ial will be in the Evergreen cemetery, ceme-tery, directed by A. Y. Wheeler and son Mortuary. Mr. Payne had had a severe cold and had gone to the doctor for a shot Saturday. He had not complained com-plained however of any other ailment. ail-ment. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Born in Springville September 12, 1882, he had made his home here always. His parents were Daniel and Lydia Johnson Payne, early settlers. He attended schools in Springville Spring-ville and married Clara Barnett of this city September 28, 1905 in Springville, and the marriage was later solomnized in the LDS temple. tem-ple. Mrs. Payne died in 1947. Mr. Payne followed farming during dur-ing his early life and later engaged en-gaged in the meat and grocery business with a brother-in-law, A. G. Thorn, for 28 years operating the Thorn and Payne Grocery store. Active in LDS church work, he (Continued on page 2) 'Funeral Services Held For E. D. Payne (Continued from page 1) had served as Sunday School superintendent su-perintendent in the Fpu'th wara and was group leader of the Fourth ward High Priests. He was a former member or me Springville Kiwanis club. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Kelly (Bernadine) Jensen &Pne ville. Four sons preceded him m death. There are also six grana-children; grana-children; one brother, Jessie ane of Salt Lake City, and two sisters. Mrs. Dean Hardy of Provo and Mrs. Bert Faucett of Ogden. |
