Show Former Residents Prominent in Coast Activities It is always a source of interest to hear of former townspeople and to know what they are doing. The following items comes from Los Angeles : "News of interest this week includes in-cludes the names of two former Springville women, Mrs. Tess H-Garrison H-Garrison and Mrs. Hilda Williams Christensen. ."Mrs. Christensen, who left here at the age of 12 years, is one of the singers in the John Charles Thomas Chorus, which is made up of professionals and . promising amateurs, who appear frequently in concert with Mr. Thomas as soloist. "At present, she is assistant soloist at the First Univeralist Church in Los Angeles. She has an excellent soprano voice and her talent is in demand. She coaches with noted organists and has many classes in sight reading, singing, and opra work. With her husband she recently toured Europe; also Mexico and Canada. Her hobby is raising orchids, and maintaining a beautiful home in Beverly Hills. "The other woman is Mrs. Tess Hines Garrison, professional music instructor residing at Manhatten Beach, Calif. "Her grandparents were the Don Johnsons, well known in early theatrical groups and during the war years, Tess was a member of the South Bay USO Entertainment unit touring various cities in California. Cali-fornia. She recently received her degree in the Master of Asts and is at present one of the pianists at the beautiful Christ Church Unity in Los Angeles, and is also on the entertainment staff there for small children, who affectionately affection-ately call her "The Firefly." She is a member of a professional group who entertain at a hospital in Los Angeles, and with it all finds time to realize a life-time ambition to swim in the Pacific the year round. "Both Tess and Hilda have known each other since two years of age and celebrate their birthdays birth-days together each March. Both also are ardent boosters of their former hometown, Springville." |
