Show JC's to Sponsor Speech Contest For SHS Students The seventh annual Voice of Democracy contest was launched this week when Bill Averett, president presi-dent of the Junior Chamber of Commerce with Waldo Jackson and Lum Holley, ' board members in charge, selected a chairman and set plans for the script writing and voicing competition, which officially official-ly gets under way in conjunction with the observance of national radio and television week, November Novem-ber 1st to 7th. Harris Loughnan was named chairman of the local contest, and he will meet with all eligible students stu-dents in an assembly to brief them on the mechanics of the contest. Sponsored by the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, the National Association or Radio and Television Broadcasters, and the Radio - Television Manufacturers Association, the contest is open to 10th, 11th and 12th grade high school students. Contestants are required to write and then voice, via recordings, five-minute scripts on the subject, "I Speak for Democracy." De-mocracy." The Springville Junior Chamber of Commerce will award prizes to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of the local contest, and the first place winner will compete in the state contest. State winners will be entered in the national contest to be held in January in Washington, Washing-ton, D. C. Principal Paul K.
