Show Springville Guard Team Takes Second In State Tournament Springville's National Guard basketball team placed second in the initial state tournament held in Logan during the past week end. Logan tipped the lo- 5cals 52-42 in the state finals Saturday. Sat-urday. To gain the finals, Springville defeated Fort Douglas and Cedar City. Single honors of the tournament came to Gordon Smith, one of five I 1 ri rfli artgii- -,- .t...-...,. GORDON SMITH who were picked as the all-tourney team. These included Olson of Fort Douglas and Jensen of Spanish Span-ish Fork as forwards; Holyoke of Cedar City as center; Smith of Springville and Adams of Logan as guards. In the championship game, Gordon Gor-don and Richard Sumsion hit for 13 and 12 points respectively. Jim Erz of Logan tanked in 19 points to lead his club to victory. Cedar City won third ' place by beating Murray 35-22, while fifth place and consolation honors went to Fort Douglas 115. on a 29-28 win over Spanish Fork.
