| Show municipal elections the manner of conducting municipal elections seems seema but little under stood though less than a month hence it mccu occurs rs on the tuesday next following the first monday in novem korem ber the same as all other elections and is under lander the supervision and m must u st be paid for by the respective city councils and town boards where the elect election lun is held beld the regist registry ry agents are appointed by the board of county commissioners but are paid for by the city or town in which services are rendered at not to exceed 15 3 per day there are only two days of registration the first and third tuesdays prior to an election between 8 a m and 9 p in at some designated office notices for this registration should now be posted the judges of election for each voting precinct in a town or city are appointed by the city councilor council or town tow n board of said city or town at least two ot of whom shall be of opposite political parties i e there can not be more than two of one party the judges are also paid by the city at not to exceed 3 per day the judges have to keep open the polls poll a from 7 in the morning until 7 clock in the evening the recorders or town clerks must furnish the ballots and necessary stationery any party which at the last laet election cast two per cent or more of the total vote of the city or town is entitled to have its candidates on the official ticket by properly filing the same with the city recorder or to town wn cleck but where a new party is started or where a ticket is put up outside of the regular parties such as the nonpartisan movement for example then at least fifty citizens of tha city or town must sign the certificate of nomination the said certificate must contain the names of all those nominated for office and the signers must take upon themselves a political name in not more than five words the signers have to give their name and residence and ta tike he an oath before any officer duly authorized to take ledge ments that they are voters with in said city or town As before stated where it is a regular party organization certificates can be made out only by the signatures of the chairman and secreta secretary ry of the nominating meeting or convention ven tion but these officers of the meeting must make oath before an officer qualified to administer the same that the ants were such officers of said meeting mee g or convention giving the name of it and the date when held now isow the time of ef filing these certificates of nomination is important they must be filed with the city recorder or town clerk not less than fifteen days before election which would be the i dinst nor etoris is that rat u every person thus nominated for office shall in the first instance where nominated by a regular party convention fill an accept ancs anco with the city recorder or town clerk not less than twelve days before the election or if nominated by a new party not less than ten days before the election after all this is done then the re corder of each city or town clerk of each town shall publish in at least one and not more than two newspapers published within the county ci city ty or town as the case may ma y be or post notices in at least three conspicuous places in each precinct where such election is to be held a list of all the nominations to offices certified to whim him under the provisions of this chapter such publication shall be made three times the first publication to bo be not less then six days nor more than ten days prior to tho the day of election |
