Show Contractors Hear Talk; Nominate it Monday Meet Mere than 300 contractors and their guests met in Springville Monday afternoon and evening for their annual banquet and business session. During the afternoon meeting directed di-rected by President Harold Whiting Whit-ing of Springville, candidates for nominations of officers were submitted sub-mitted by the nominating committee commit-tee for approval of the general membership. The ballots being mailed to all members contain the names of Ed Borland of Salt Lake for president; Bill Nelson and Jack Parson, Logan, Lo-gan, vice-president; Wallace Smith of Salt Lake, secretary. Director candidates, three of whom will be elected are: Paul Thorn of Springville, Spring-ville, Bill Harlen, Jack Oklund, Salt Lake; Ace Raymond, Logan; Lee Young, Richfield and Wm. A. Larsen, Ogden. George Dewey Clyde, a native of Springville, now commissioner of the Utah Water and Power board for Upper Colorado River project with offices in Salt Lake, was the guest speaker during the dinner- meeting. He projected his x-emarks on the basis that the right to water is based on its use and pointed to lhe necessity of the water from 'his project to develop the natural resources of the ax-ea involved. This would stimulate industry and sup-Ply sup-Ply water for reclamation of land for agriculture purposes, he said. Mr. Clyde pointed out that 25 years were needed to complete the Project and that it should be start-' start-' ed immediately to get full benefits. Bert Strong was toastmaster for the evening and general arrange-ments arrange-ments for the meeting in Springville Spring-ville were under direction of Ralph E- Child. |
