Show CITY TAX LEVY RAISED 4 MILLS Additional Tax Money to be Used For Sewage Disposal Fund, Water Dept. The tax mill levy for the coming com-ing year in this city has been set at 26 mills on action of the city council. The levy is based on the 1953 tentative assessed valuation of $3,746,079. According to Lloyd Ashcraft, city recorder, this represents an increase of 4 mills, the additional to be used to build up a fund for water purification and sewage disposal. dis-posal. The increase was made possible for this purpose by action of the state legislature during the last session. ; A break-down of the 22 mills is as follows: For contingent expenses ex-penses or general purposes, 4 mills; for waterworks, 3 mills; streets and sidewalks, 5 mills; for parks and public property, 2 mills; sewers, sew-ers, 2 mills; public affairs and fin- ance, 2 mills; public safety, 3; : and for the library, 1. j The council also took action to , investigate the problem of replacing replac-ing the furnace in the public ; library. Mayor Clyde will head the investigating committee, formulate . the needs and requirements, and on approval of the council, the job will be opened for bids. ' j Councilman Edward Boyer re-1 ported that tests taken of the Springville culinary water supply j show it to be free of contamina- tion according to the state board ! of health. j Councilman Paul Haymond reported re-ported that the tennis courts have been completed at Memorial park j except for the two gates soon to ; be built. Approval was made by the council coun-cil for the acceptance and final payment of the sewer job on Fourth North which has been completed com-pleted by Lambson Brothers Company Com-pany of Murray. Also, approval was made for the first installment to Thorn Construction Co. for work in progress in putting in the new bridge across Fourth South between be-tween Fifth and Sixth East. The bridge will be completed within a short time. |
