Show B T Y A RECEPTION strange students made to feel at home some boms of the Fre freshmen Ehmen of the brigham young academy have been troubled with homesickness and it was partly to alleviate that end also to perpetuate the pretty custom of the institution of making the students and tea teachers c h era formally acquainted that a reception was given at the building thursday evening the faculty was lined up by one cf the entrances and as a student entered he was introduced first to president cluff who passed his hia name down along the ranks along which there was a general hand shak ing about four hundred students thus ran the gauntlet and at the end 0 of the half hours work prof bramball Brim ball bail was heard to remark that he was glad he was not president ot of the united states but the students enjoyed the reception very mich and it pleased the prof professors essora to see them happy after general hand there was an I 1 impromptu program pre grain giyen given president aluff welcomed the students in a social way and there were responses from the different clas clams presidents to the year 1903 the last cass organized some of these were very clever three thre e toasts were also given the board bv miss aliss reynolds Eay Roy the faculty by mr Alc mcbride Bride and the stu dents by prof Hi Hiu cHey W H and james clove each spoke briefly at the close of the program all proceeds I 1 to the lawn where there was an illumination of japanese lanterns and a grand watermelon sp spread read it was an imposing sight the liberality of the teachers was much enjoyed |
