Show : GIDEON S. WOOD ; SERVICES HELD The Third ward chapel was crowded to overflowing with friends, .relatives and business a.s- sociates from all parts of the state, at funeral services for G.S. Wood, held last Thursday afternoon. after-noon. Mr. Wood died the preceding preced-ing Monday afternoon at 'his home of injuries resulting from a fall. He was ill atout three days. Bishop William Witney of the Third ward had the services in charge. The invocation was offered offer-ed by the Reverend W. H. Ensign of the local Community church. Mrs. Hannah C. Packard of Provo, Pro-vo, sang "In the Garden of Geth-scmane," Geth-scmane," accompanied by Mrs. Morgan. C. G. Salisbury, cashier of the Springville Banking company of which Mr. Wood was a director, paid glowing tribute to the character char-acter of 'his friend and told of his charitable disposition. Mr. Salis-. Salis-. bury also read the fine tribute given Mr. Wood in the Tribune editorial the morning of the fu-j fu-j ncral. I. A. Smoot, Salt Lake City postmaster, also paid fine tributes trib-utes in his talk a,t the services. Elmo Coffman sang "O My Father," accompanied by Mrs. Mary Witney at the piano. Bishop Witney gave brief remarks. Bis'hop Leo Robertson of the Fourth ward, offered the benediction benedic-tion and Solon A. Woou dedicated the grave at the Evergreen cemetery. ceme-tery. The many and gorgeous floral I offerings from friends and rela-I rela-I tives both in this city and from various other parts, were evidence evi-dence of the esteem and respect held for the departed and the family. |
