He is rescued by Manuel, a Portuguese fisherman. Harvey demands de-mands tluit Captain Disko's fishing schooner put back for New York but this is impossible as the catch will take three months. Harvey makes himself very obnoxious but finally, his adoration for Manuel changes him completely- But on the return trip to Gloucester, disaster occurs.
