Show What's Doing In Kiwanis "The 24th anniversary of, the founding of Kiwanis International will be celebrated by over 101,-000 101,-000 Kiwanians throughout the United States and Canada during the week of January 15 to 21, 1939," said M. w. Bird, president of the local club, today. . "In Springville1 all our members are planning to join in this international inter-national observance, Thursday night. "The first Kiwanis club was organized in Detroit in 1915 and held its first meeting on January Janu-ary 21 of that year. Today in the United States and Canada there are 1,992 clubs," said Mr. Bird. In the Springville club, the committee on Kiwanis education will be in charge of the program at the meeting on January 19. Members of this committee are: C. E. Eggertsen, chairman; Ed Clyde, H. T. Reynolds Jr. Plan Active 1939 Year The Kiwanis club is expecting a special message next month from H. G. Hatfield of Oklahoma City, Okla., president of Kiwanis International. This greeting will be read to the local group at the anniversary meeting. "During 1939 we can increase the influence of Kiwanis through increasing our membership,"- said Mr. Hatfield. "Many communities communi-ties where Kiwanis clubs have never been organized should have clubs. Kiwanis influence is of inestimable in-estimable value," he said. |
