Show r j G.C.C. Camp News Items , v Saturday and Sunday; our camp was increased by the arrival of 52 new members. The new en-rollees en-rollees hail from all parts of the state as follows: 6 from Morgan county; 26 from Utah county; 5 from Rich county; 2 from San Juan county; 1 from Cache county; ! and 12 C. C. C. boys transferred : from Kanosh Camp, at Kanosh, welcome bos Monday evening the official welcome wel-come was given to the 52 new en-rollees en-rollees in the form of a musical and speaking program, under the direction of J. Carlos Lambert, educational adviser. The welcome address was given by Enrollee James Moore, who gave a very interesting talk on the history of C. C. C. Co. 958 and the advantages to be had in this particular par-ticular group. Group singing was enjoyed under . the direction of Forester Kingsley ' Thatcher, followed by R. E. Brough who told of the educational program pro-gram foi the ensuing six months. Supt. G. L. Barron gave an expression ex-pression on the work, and outlined the plans for the future. The en-rollees en-rollees were called upon for. selections sel-ections and Enrollee Roy N. Pierce of Provo, provided several interesting inter-esting selections on the piano. Our new Captain, Alvin Sessions brought the meeting to a close with a very timely talk on the cooperation of the Army and Forestry For-estry departments, and the handl-1 ing of the 237 men, which is the total strength of C. C. C. Co. 958. The Provo Camp is fastly going up, under the supervision of Lt. L. V. Stanley and enrollee Reed Dnke. The barracks, mess hall, administration and forestry barracks bar-racks are practically finished and the camp should be able to be in their new quarters by Nov. 10. Basketball season was officially opened by the initial practice of 40 boys at the Armory in Provo, Tuesday night, they were put through the fast pace by B. P. Fisher, who will coach the boys. It looks as though Provo teams will have some fast competition this season, as the group acted like veterans on polished floor. There is fair warning: The C. C. boys are coming to town! |
