Show C.C.G. Camp I News Items At last camp life at Hobble Creek camp seems to be in full swing and work has begun on the many projects. One of the most recent moves was the establishing of a spike camp at the head of Payson canyon. A crew of thirty men has been sent to this location for the purpose of finishing the road which was started by the Nebo camp last summer. A similar camp has been placed in the right hand fork of Hobble Creek canyon, about six miles above the main camp. This is composed of tractor men and teamsters. Quite a number of teams have been hired from the surrounding territory. The men of this sub camp have already come to conclusion that when the camp was named, rattlesnake canyon, it was surely given the right title for they have seen plenty of reptile species. We feel quite proud of the fact that one of our enrollees, J. Reed Bullock, of Provo, has gone to Hollywood for the purpose of trying try-ing his golden tenor voice at radio . station KNX. In case you , don't know it Bullock is the camp crooner and the personell of the camp wish him the best of luck. , We have quite the follower of Iassc Walton in Dr. Albert R. Taylor, Provo, who at the present time is acting as camp surgeon. He surely likes his fishing and up to the present time seems to have plenty of luck with the finny tribe. More power to you Doc. - Accidents seem to happen, even to the CCC boys. Boyd Baxter, of this camp was struck by an automobile auto-mobile in Springville a few days ago and although not seriously injured was pretty well scratched and bruised up. The driver didn't seem to think enough of a human life to stop and see just how badly Baxter was injured. Just one more example of our unsafe drivers. Boxing seems to be the rage in Springville now and several of the camp boys have been participants. partici-pants. We feel quite proud of them as they seem to have plenty .of fists and know pretty well where to put them. Good luck" boxers. Franklin Greenhalgh and Rulon Brogn spent the Jast week-end in Nephi attending Quarterly conference. con-ference. . Several of the faculty members of the B. Y. U. have given lectures in the camp on conservation. . These lectures have been well attended at-tended and enjoyed by the camp enrolless. Clark Anderson of the Forest Service, and a recent graduate grad-uate of the U. A. C. has given several lectures on Forestry. Mr Anderson is a resident of Provo L. K. SPURRIER, Camp Reporter. . .. R. BROUGH, Assistant. |
