Show SERVICES HELD FORTU.BIRD Well attended services were conducted in the Mapleton ward Monday for Ray V. Eird, who died last Friday night, at a Provo hospital. hos-pital. Bishop Frank Jensen of the Mapleton ward was in charge. The speakers were R. L. Men-denhall, Men-denhall, former ward bishop, Ar-thus Ar-thus Southwick of Salt Lake and L. E. Harmer. The Mapleton male quartet and Freeman Bird gave vocal music during the services. Oscar Whiting gave the opening open-ing prayer, and Dallas Holley, the benediction. The grave at the city cemetery, was dedicated by J. H. Manwaring. Mr. Bird was born in Springville October 22, 1878, a son f Vernon and Mary Ann Devenish Bird. He lived at Mapleton practically all his life, and had taken an active part in church and civic affairs. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Myrtle Peterson Bird and ten sons and daughters, Aris V. Bird, New York City; McClure Bird, Idaho Falls; Jessie Bird, Sacramento, Cal.; Ray Bird, Bremerton, Wash., all by a former marriage; Mrs. L. A. Parcell of Provo; Orwin, Lawrence, Law-rence, Donald, Irene and Arthur Bird, Springville. |
