Show MAPLETON BY THOKA WHITING David R. Evans was honored by his children Saturday evening December De-cember 28 in celebration of -his 70th birthday anniversary. The delightful affair being in the form of a party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Stoker at Mapleton. Mr. Evans is the father of nine daughters and one son. All of them being present at the party with exception of Mrs. T. A. Phillips of Roosevelt who was unable to attend. He has 35 grand children three great grand children. Those present at the party were: Mrs. Hazel Whiting, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thurman, Mr. and Mrs. Movell Seeley, all of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Burgi of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Diamond of Park City, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Plumlee, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Burgi, Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Evans, several grandchildren and the host and hostess. Miss Erma Holley was hostess of a dinner party, given Friday night, January 3, at her home in Mapleton. The color scheme was green and red. Dinner was served serv-ed at card tables, with red sweet peas and green candles as centerpieces. center-pieces. After dinner the following guests played progressive "Cootie" and "Rook": Grace Holley, Theon Laney, Berniece Johnson, Blake Everett, Marva Perry, Burt Taylor, Tay-lor, Helen Tew, Floyd Holley, lone Nielson, Don Anderson, Naomi Na-omi Harmer, Blaine Wheeler, Mildred Mil-dred Reynolds, Alan Creer, Mark Whiting and the hostess. Wednesday night was a missionary mis-sionary banquet given to raise funds for the missionary commit-mittee. commit-mittee. A banquet featured the fore part of the evening, a program pro-gram and dance following. There was a large number of people in attendance and a very good time was enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Holley entertained en-tertained Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bird and Mr. and Mrs. John I. Holley at a chili supper at their home New Year's eve. After supper, sup-per, the host and hostess and their guests went td the preview at Provo. Miss Ruth Whiting and Miss Helen Wheeler returned Sunday from a trip to California, where they spent the entire Christmas holidays. They both reported a very enjoyable time. Miss Erma Mendenhall entertained enter-tained a group of girl friends at a party at her home in Mapletos. The following girls enjoyed a de-. de-. lightful plate lunch and played games: Lu Beal, Velma Olsen, Erma Holley, Naomi Harmer, Dealia Houtz, lone Nielson and the hostess. |
