Show Cyrus Dallin Paid Tribute The Boston Art club, oldest organization or-ganization of its kind in the United States, is paying special tribute to a native son of Springville, Spring-ville, Cyrus E. Dallin, who is rounding out his fifieth year as a member of the club as well as his fiftieth year of the art world of Boston. The tribute is being paid in the' form of an exhibition of the sculpture sculp-ture and third dimension paintings of Mr. Dallin and will remain open until January 20 having opened with a tea on January 4 it is reported. re-ported. Since his arrival in Boston in) 1884, Mr.','. Dallin has been ono of the rno'st popular men in his profession in the east. Since he was awarded a gold medal by the American art association in 1888. honors have been piled upon him for his splendid contributions to the art world. Mr. Dallin has been honored by election to the American academy acad-emy of arts anl letters, and 1ms been made an honorary member of the American Sculptors' society. His works adorn many of the most prominent places in the nation nat-ion including the Library of Congress Cong-ress in Washington D. C. Though Mr. Dallin has resided in the cast for the past half century, cent-ury, he has never lost contact with his native town of Springville Spring-ville and returns often to renew old friendships and acquaintances. Springville is also honored as probably no other community of its size, with a number of his fine pieces, the latest of which is the monument to the pioneer mothers which holds a prominent' place in the city park. |
