Show WEED PROGRAM IS UNDER WAY 'Work is well underway on a weed control program through Utah county, Superintendent Sel-voy Sel-voy J. Boyer announced. A survey sur-vey of the 10 districts in the county coun-ty has been made to determine the heaviest weeded districts. A district dis-trict foreman and solicitor have been named for each district to contact the farmers, explain the program and sve-uve their cooperation. coopera-tion. A number of weeding machines have been secured for use throughout through-out the county, Mr. Boyer said. Farmers have been asked to plough their land and leave it otherwise uncultivated during the summer. W. P. A. workers will then go over the land at least every two weeks. The W P A workmen now have practically all they can handle and Mr. Boyer advises farmers who have not been contracted to cut their own weeds as much as possible, especially espe-cially white top before it goes to seed. The weed eradication program will also extend into the canyons where creek and canal banks will be sprayed at intervals to prevent weed carriage by streams later in the summer. Efforts of the organization will be centered on wild morning glory, Canadian thistle and white top. ... .1- |
