It. was decided during the meeting to contribute Christmas baskets to needv veterans families. Mrs Mary Weight will be assisted by Mrs. Floss Phillips in the work. At the close of the meeting each member and guest present was presented with a little Christmas favor. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Margaret Huntington, Mrs. Emma Long and Mrs. Hazel Hafen. Mr. and Mrs. D. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bjarnson of this city, wish to announce the marriage of their daughter, Rosalie, to Keith Day bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Day bell of Provo, which took place Tuesday Tues-day evening with President J. I Francis Boyer. son of Mr. and j Mrs. Oscar Boyer, who will leave soon on a mission to the northern states, was guest of honor at a nicely arranged dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Friel, Thursday evening. The long dining1 din-ing1 table held an attractive centerpiece, cen-terpiece, designed of cellophane and myrtle, suggestive of the Christmas spirit. Covers were laid for the following friends, Lamar Friel, Viola Crunib, Gene Baker, Norma Johnson. George Strong. Rose Heavener, Frank Butler Louise Patrick, James Zo-bell, Zo-bell, Irene Kirk, Francis Boyer and Lena Roberts. In honor or ner daughter Jeanne, who is to married this month, Mrs. G. G. Neill entertained members mem-bers of the Cesta Tie social unit of the Brigham Young university of which Miss Neill is a member, at their home Thursday evening. The social was given in the form of a luncheon followed by music and sewing. Cut flowers formed attractive at-tractive decorations for the entertaining en-tertaining rooms and about 18 members of the unit were in attendance at-tendance to enjoy the affair. Mrs. Madge Crandall entertained entertain-ed at a party at her home Wednesday Wed-nesday evening for members of her club. Lunch was served at small tables preceeding a delightful delight-ful evening of cards. Guest prize was awarded to Mrs. Ruth Miller and the club prize to Mrs. Norma Noe. Others present were Mrs. Alice Ence, Mrs. Dolly Smith, Mrs. Coe Straw, Mrs. Leona Allen, Mrs. Carrie Tripp, members and Mrs. Evelyn Boyer and Mrs. Ruth Allen of Provo. guests. An entertaining and educational meeting of the American Legion auxiliary was held Wednesday evening at Memorial hall. President Presi-dent Emma Gardner was in charge. A feature of the program was a review of her trip to the Orient given in an interesting manner by Miss Lola Bradford, Spanish Fork junior high school instructor. She told of the customs cus-toms and manneis, the dress and living conditions of the people peo-ple of Japan and China and also of the Philipine islands. . A display dis-play of numerous articles made in the foreign countries and brought by Miss Bradford on her return, added to the interested talk. ( . Musical numbers were furnish-' Mrs. Alieman was presented with a lovely silk parasol in appreciation appreci-ation of her services. Others present pres-ent exchanged Christmas gifts. A dainty lunch was served in conclusion to about 17 members of the stake board and special guests present. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Eggertsen of this city have received word that their son-in-law, Fred C. Sorenson has just passed his examinations to receive a Ph. D., from Stanford university. He is majoring in English and English literature and has attended the university for the past three years. Members of the Second year ' genealogy class of the First ward spent a delightful evening at a candy pull at the home of Miss Marie Rigtrup. She was assisted by the other class leader, lead-er, Mrs. Flossie Sanford and also Mrs. Alice Davis. Class members present included, Thel-ma Thel-ma Graves, Phylis Weight, Ver-laine Ver-laine Beardall, Ina Sanford, Leslie Les-lie Loveridge, Ileen Felix, LaVern Sanford, Rhoda Thompson, Miss Mower, LaVern Davis, Lynn Walker, Wal-ker, Scott Beardall, Lenore Weight, Betty Lou Palfreyman. An epecially enjoyable Christmas Christ-mas program in honor of the pioneers of Springville. was given Thursday afternoon by the D.U.P. Camp Aaron Johnson and Camp Springville, at the Fourth ward hall. Captain Lela Sumsion was in charge and welcomed the ladies present. After the opening song, led by Mrs. Clara Boyer with Mrs. Millie Sutherland as accompanist, the prayer was offered by Chaplain Chap-lain Myrtle Harrison. A harmonica harmon-ica duet was given by Mead Weight and Drew Witney. The Auxiliary chorus directed by Guy Brown gave selections; Mrs. Floss Phillips gave a Christmas story; Miss Luella Huntington, a violin solo and Eli Tippetts, a reading. At the close of the program Santa Claus visited and refreshments were served. Hostesses scheduled for the occasion were Mrs. Mary Weight. Mrs. Lola Weight, Mrs. Bertha Rothwell, Mrs. Ellen Cran- . Row-land. - The Second ward missionary committee is sponsoring a banquet ban-quet for the benefit of then-missionary then-missionary fund, at 7:30 p. m., Friday, in the ward amusement hall, it is desired that everyone make a special effort to be there promptly at 7:30 o'clock, as the stake M. I. A. dance is sc'hed-' uled for that evening. It is. planned plan-ned to serve a full course dinner and all ward members as well as the general public are invited to attend. Tickets may be secured from members of the missionary committee com-mittee or at the door. Everyone interested in a danc- I ing ciub in this city is invited to attend a meeting at 8:30 p. m., Thursday, at Memorial hall. The proposed club would be similar to that held here two years ago, when a large group of people participated in and enjoyed a full season's dance entertainment. en-tertainment. Mrs. Margaret Huntington accompanied ac-companied by her daughter, Miss Marie Rivers and Miss Luella Huntington and Mrs. Blanche Beal went to Nephi Friday evening to see the high school play directed by Miss Virginia Rivers, who is in charge of the dramatic art department depart-ment of the Nephi school.
