Show Local ; SALT LAKE CITY Ronald Whiting, Springville, will be one of the 62 University of Utah students who will train in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps camp at Fort Francis E. Warren near Cheyenne, Wyo., in June, according ac-cording to announcement made at the state university. The reserve officers' training camp is an annual encampment, encamp-ment, in which students in the R. O. T. C. at the University of Utah join with students from the Colorado Agricultural college in a six week practical training period. The students go to the camp between their junior and senior 1 " years, and the appointments in the university R. O. T. C. unit are marie largely on a basis of the quality of work done at the camp. Mrs. John L. Whiting is convalescing con-valescing from a recent operation at a local hospital. i .Mrs. Eugene Miner underwent a major operation at a local hospital hos-pital Tuesday. She is convalescing convales-cing at the home of Mr. and Mrs, M. F. Miner. A representative group . of townspeople attended the musical entertainment given by Spanish Fork talent, and sponsored by the local Kiwanis club, Wednesday Wednes-day night at the high school. Fire from a chimney spark damaged the home of E. O. Hjll on East Ctneer street, approximately approxi-mately $1200 late Saturday afternoon. after-noon. Firemen arrived in time to save the household furniture and the greater part of the building. Considerable damage however, resulted re-sulted from water, used to extinguish ex-tinguish the blaze, which had much headway before detected.- Building permits issued thus far this year show a marked increase in-crease over the number issued during the same period in 1934, city records show. A total of 13 permits were issued in the first four months this year, 8 during the same time in 1934, and none In 1933.
