Show 62ND WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED In celebration of their sixtv-seend sixtv-seend wadding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. James Wingate, pioneer residents of this community, entertained en-tertained Sunday at a family dinner at their home, South Fourth East street. Their seven children including, includ-ing, Mrs. Hattie Allen, Mrs. Grace Averett, Mrs. Maggie Daley, Mrs. Ella Hatch and Frank Wignall, Springville with Ernest Wignal Salt Lake and Charles Wignal of Provo attending the celebration dinner with their wives and husbands hus-bands and eleven of the grandchildren. grand-children. Mr. Wignall, a Black Hawk Indian In-dian war vxeteran, was born at Preston Lancashire, England, May 19,1849, a son of William and Grace Slater Wignall. He came to Utah with his parents in 1856, crossing the plains in the ill fated ' Edward . Martin handcart company. The family settled in Payson "where Mr. Wignall spent his eas'y life. He came to Springville Spring-ville im 1877 and has lived here since. He assisted in the construction of many .of the earliest railroads throughout the western states. During his later years he en-gagaed en-gagaed in farming and stock raising. Although Mr. Wignall has retired re-tired from intensive farm work, his 85 years does not keep him from riding horse-back to and from his ranch in Hobble Creek canyon. Mrs. Wignall was born in Uley 'Glouchester-shire, England, October Oc-tober 5, 1852; a daughter of Thomas and Annie Ford Burt. The family crossed the ocean in a sailing vessel, requiring six weeks to make the trip. They came to Utah in 1862, crossing the plains with ox-teams. After two years in Salt Lake and Provo Mrs. Wignall came to Springville and has made her home here since. She recalls many of the early rndian uprisings and other hardships hard-ships of pioneer days. As a girl she learned to weave cloth, make candles and knit stockings, which tasks formed a major part of the pioneer girl's education. Mi', and Mrs. Wignall were married mar-ried July 6, 1872. They are parents of nine children, seven of whom are living in addition to 36 grandchildren grand-children and 24 great-grandchildren.
