Show Mrs. Catherine Dougall Wills and Mrs. Tess Hines Hatfield former musicians of thas city and now of Los Angeles, "were heard recently in a program of music at the Wilshire camp of the D. U. P., Mrs. H. M. Dougall was among the visitors. At a monthly luncheon given last week by the Wilshire Relief society, Mrs. Wills entertained with vocal solos assisted by Mrs. Hatfield. Mrs. Hatfield was heard recently as accompanist for a Spanish Festival Fes-tival given at the Ramona school under Miss Euphenia Johnson, musical director also former resident res-ident of Springville. During July Mrs. Hatfield will be heard as one of the soloists at the Festival of Arts at Laguna Beach, Calif., and will also be soloist at a musical evening given by the . Westlake Chapter of Eastern Star. Mrs. M. R. Glazier visited friends and relatives in Los Angeles An-geles this week and left Thursday Thurs-day for Boulder City, where with her mother, Mrs. R. H. Hatfield, they have been the guests of their sister and daughter, Mrs. L. A. Wilcox. Mrs. D. S. Hopla of Mapleton entertained at a birthday party for her little daughter, Carma. An enjoyable time was had by all. Out-of-town guests were: Mrs. C. W. Erickson, Mrs. Jennie Kearns, and children, Diann and Russell. Mrs. Chas S. Hopla has returned re-turned to Denver, after having spent the past six weeks as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Hopla Hop-la and other friends and relatives of Mapleton and Spanish Fork. Members of the Legion auxiliary aux-iliary will entertain at a card party and luncheon, at 8 p. m. Friday, at Memorial hall. Mr. adn Mrs. Willis Sumsion, and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cooper of Salt Lake City,, recently returned from a trip to the Boulder dam and Fish Lake. Complimentary to Herbert Miner Min-er and Sid Wallace of Philadelphia, Philadel-phia, Pa., a number of relatives and friends entertained at a party just before they returned to their homes, recently. They accompanied ac-companied Mr. and Mrs. Thorn Miner and family here. Miss Irene Mills of Salt Lake City, is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith, this week. Mrs. Carrie Tripp and her mother, Mrs. Arthur Sanford, recently re-cently returned from a trip to Idaho. Mrs. Clara Sumsion entertained members of the Utah . County Nurses' association and a number num-ber of friends, at her home, Saturday Sat-urday night. Luncheon was served early in the evening, and later the group retired to the spacious garden at their home and enjoyed various games. Rea Straw and Miss Zina Johnson, Springvidlle. Dr. S. Eugene Dalton, prominent promin-ent physician of Atlantic City, N. J., visited one day last week with his sister, Mrs. M. F. Miner and family in this city, enroute from a trip to the coast. Mrs.. Miner and daughter, 1 accompanied him to Salt Lake City. Dr. Dalton Dal-ton formerly of this city has made an envieable record in his profession pro-fession in the east, being on the staff of three of the largest hos-' pitals in that vicinity. Specializing Specializ-ing in diseases of the chest and head, he also is head of one of the largest and most prominent clnics there. Lew Gammell formerly of this city has been appointed city marshall of Reno, Nev., according accord-ing to word received by his mother, Mrs. Lottie Gammall. He plans to take over his new work July 1. Mr. Gammell is well known in the Nevada city, having hav-ing been manager of one of the large automobile concerns there, for a number of years. The Firemens' auxiliary chorus rendered . selections at the First and the Third ward Relief society meetings, Tuesday afternoon. Complimentary to Mrs. Elmina Madsen who is visiting here from Missoula, Mont., and Mrs. Farrell Olsen, recently married, Mrs. Maurine Haymond and Mrs. Tess iC. Packard entertained at a party, Monday night at the home of Mrs. J. W. Whiting. Following a delicious luncheon, progressive 500 was played, with high score prize being awarded to Mrs. Faye Haymond and the consolation to Mrs. Elaine Par.cell of Provo. Other guests in attendance were Mrs. Alberta Hoover, Mrs. Odessa Childs, Mrs. Helen Haymond, Mrs. Lucille Childs, Mrs. Lucile Hughs Mrs. Mabel Childs, Mrs. Mable Wright, Mrs. Florence Nelson, Mrs. Marjorie Johnson, Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Ogden and Miss Dona Salisbury, and the guests of honor. . In honor of Miss Marian Miner, who is attending the L. D. S. business college, in Salt Lake City, members of her Sunday I school class of the Second ward, ! entertained at a party last Fri-1 day night. A variety of games and a dainty lunch were enjoyed by all. Miss Cleo Pierce of this city, who has been teaching in Ogden, left this week on a two months' trip to New York City. She also will attend summer school in the east. t Mrs. Clara Christensen and -edaughter, Eleanor, of San Mateo, Calif., is visiting Mrs. Christen-sen's Christen-sen's mother, Mrs. Nora J. Clyde, and other relatives here and in Provo. - ' Mrs. Lydia Bird, accompanied by her son, Elliott Bird and wife of Salt Lake City, are visiting the former's, sister, Mrs. Arthusia Chase and other relatives at Rig-by, Rig-by, Ida. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Crandall of Atlanta, Ida., visited Mr. Cran-dall's Cran-dall's brother. E. T. Crandall and family and other relatives here the past week. Miss Effie Kelsey, teacher in the New York City schools, is spending spend-ing the summer with her mother, Mrs. Selena Kelsey, in this city. Members of the Busy Finger club and their husbands entertained entertain-ed at a canyon party, Saturday night. Mrs. H. R. Otto and son Bobby of Salina, Kansas, has been visiting vis-iting her sister, Mrs. A. W. Har-mer Har-mer and family here. She has now gone to Los Angeles, Calif., to attend at-tend the funeral service for a nephew, Harold Doepke, who was killed in a train accident, at New Orleans, La. The young man is also a nephew of Mrs. Harmer. A conjoint meeting of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers of this city was held Thursday afternoon, after-noon, in the form of a picnic lunch and program at the city park. Mrs. John Dougall, of Camp Aaron Johnson was in charge and gave the welcome address. Other program numbers were given as follows, accordian solos, Evelyn Larson;, readings, Miss Martha Bird; vocal duets, Mrs. Helen Thorpe and Miss G-aldine Eg- gertson; readings, Mrs. Gertrude i Clements; violin solo, Miss Phylis ; Smart, accompanied by Miss Marian Mar-ian Smart; piano accordian solo, Miss Ruth Mendenhall. Community singing was led by : Miss Geraldine Eggertson, with Mrs. Blanch Hales, accompanist. The invocation was offered by Willis E. Johnsonand the' beneric-tion beneric-tion by Chaplain, Ellen K.
