Show SOCIETY N&VS J. J. Miller of this city, announces an-nounces the engagement of hia ' daughter, Mary to Roy Blanchard, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Blanchard also of Springville, the marriage to take place in fire near future at Denver. ( Mrs. Rena B. Caine arrived here ; Monday night from Honolulu. Hawaiian Islands to spend several weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Emmett Bird and other relatives. A successful and well attended party of the past week was given Friday night by the new officers of the American Legion auxiliary in honor of the retiring officers. The time was pleasantly spent with progressive games during Which numerous prizes were awarded winners. A delicious lunch conclude dthe party. Announcement is made' of the marriage of Ronald E. Paxman of this city to Miss Mary Jane Gull of Spanish Fork. G. Donloe Kennedy and Miss Florence Christensen were married mar-ried Monday in the Salt Lake temple. They left Wednesday on a few days wedding trip and will make their home in Las Vegas, Nev. have been employed at Idaho Falls, the past summer have returned re-turned to their homes here and will attend school at the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university the coming year. Miss lone Hall of Salt Lake visited the past week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Hall here. She also visited Miss Flora Martin who also is a nurse at the Rolapp hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Webster, and family of Rexburg, Idaho, were guests Tuesday of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Kindred in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sundblom gave a wedding reception and mis-celaneojis mis-celaneojis shower for their daughter, daugh-ter, Elaine, last Saturday, September Septem-ber 22. Those present weie: Mrs.' William Taylor, Mrs. Chris Stephens, Steph-ens, Mrs. Percy Anderson, Mrs. Zella Bolten, Mrs. Ben Snyder, Mrs. Pearl Coombs, Mrs. Mae Rowland, Mrs. Reno Vance, Mrs. Charles Stuart, Mrs. Sol Clyde, Lillian Clyde, Mrs. Aggie McKee, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hansen, John Sundblom, the host and hostess,, the bride, Elaine and the groom, Mr. C. Lewis Simpson of Salt Lake. A tasty lunch was served and many beautUful presents were received. The wedding was performed perform-ed at midnight by Mr. Frank. Salisbury, who was aroused from sleep by the hostess and the licence lic-ence was given at Provo with the wedding at the home of the bride's father. Members of the Mother's Study club were delightfully entertained Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Mae Huntington. A three-act three-act play, "When Ladies Meet," by Miss Margaret Bird and instrumental instru-mental music by Mrs. Jessie Ar-I Ar-I rowsmith, Blaine Arrowsmith and Miss Mary Huntington were enjoyed en-joyed by all. Luncheon was served at the close of the meeting to twenty-four members and guests. The Ladies Literary club members mem-bers will be guests of Mrs. LaCelle Sumlon at her home, Thursday night. All are asked to be present I at 7:30 p. m. A group of friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bird at their home last Thursday night, the occasion being Mr. Bird's birthday. Progressive Pro-gressive gomes and a lunch were enjoyed. Guests included, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cranmer, Mr. and Mrs. Vernal Roylance, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Straw, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Bertram Dallin, Mr. and Mrs. Eldcn Bcardall. Harold Nelson Jordan of this city and Miss Evelyn F. Hardy of Provo were married Monday at the county clerk's office. Frank Salisbury performing the ceremony. cere-mony. Ivan Felix of Springville and Miss Gladys Thompson also of this city were married Monday in the Salt Lake teinple. They will reside here. Mrs' G. D. Kennedy entertained at a shower at her home Saturday Satur-day night complimentary to Miss Florence Christensen. Progressive "Monte Carlo Whist" was especially es-pecially enjoyed and prizes for the games were awarded to Mrs. Ralph W eight and Mrs. Josephine Brinton. A dainty lunch was served serv-ed at the close of the party to twentv-five relatives and close friends. Many lovely gifts were received by the honor guest. Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Williams of Axton Georgia, visited this week with Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Gore and Mr and Mrs. John Patrick. They left Wednesday to attend conference confer-ence in Salt Lake. Coming from the vicinilv in which the Gore l'amilv lived. Mr. and Mrs. Williams Wil-liams also are well acquainted with John Patrick who is in the Southern states mission field.
