Show PUDS IDE FOR COUNTY FAIBEVEN1 Commodity Prizes To Be Offered As the Prize Awards A big sack of beans a winter's supply of potatoes fruit enough to last through the winter season implements imple-ments for the farm these and many other staple commodities com-modities may be won by Utah county people who enter their products in the Utah county fair, which will be held in the latter part of September this year. This was brought out in a meeting meet-ing of the county fair committee Wednesday night, when representatives represen-tatives from all the communities in the county responded enthusiastically enthusias-tically to the movement for a fair this year. Passed Last Year The fair was suspended last year because of lack of funds; this year a fair will be held in spite of lack of finances, according to Lyman H, Rich, county agent. For this reason, commodity prizes instead of cash prizes will be given. All the communities will join in contributing prizes and in putting on displays that will make the 1933 on a par or better than previous fairs. The date was tentatively set as September 15 and 16, at a former meeting, but this may be changed to a later date to insure mature crops in some of the divisions. No effort will be spared to make the fair outstanding. The committee commit-tee and communities of the county will work hard to put it over, in spite of lack of funds. Feature Specialties Communities of the county might well center their exhibits around specialties that are natural ,to the city, according to a suggestion made by Prof. E. H. Eastmond, j head of the B. Y. U. art depart- ment, who was made a member of the executive committee at the meeting. Thus Springville would feature art; Payson, the golden onion ; Pleasant Grove, -strawberries, and the like. |
