Other Springville guests were Jack Evans, Leon Koylance and La Vee Bertelsen. noon. A special feature of the pro- gram was a review of the book "Lesby" by Klizabeth Wellis, given by Mrs. J. F. Wingate. Other numbers num-bers included vocal solos by Miss Mary Boyer, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Bell Crandall, and piano solos by Miss Beth Anderson. A delicious luncheon was served in conclusion to 17 club members present. pres-ent. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Crow and son Virgil of Salt Lake City were SurrVlny guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner. Alpha Eeta club members will meet with Mrs. E. E. Knudsen at 7 o'clock Friday evening rather than the usual time in the afternoon. A special health program with talks by the county nurse and physician will be featured. All members are asked to attend. Daughters of the Pioneers camp, No. 2 were delightfully entertained Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Reba Reynolds. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Elsie Condie, Mrs. Hattie Blacltett, Miss Fannie Rowland and Mrs. Martha Alleman. Captain Ella Reynolds presided. After community singing, invocation invoca-tion was offered by the chaplain, Mrs. Phoebe Singleton. Mrs. Mary J. Finley gave the history lesson, followed by two vocal selections by the-high school girls double quartet, quar-tet, accompanied by Miss Gloria "Friel, under the direction of Alfred Swenson.- Miss Sophia Packard gave in an interesting manner the1 history of her father, Nephi Packard, Pack-ard, and also of her grandfather, pioneers of this community; Miss Nettie Pierce and Miss Donna Snel-son Snel-son entertained with steel guitar selections. Concluding the after-j after-j noon's entertainment dainty re-j re-j freshments were served by the 1 hostesses to 35 members and guests , present. their partners. Games, music and social chat followed by a dainty lunch were - enjoyable- features of the evening. ' Mr. and Mrs. John Crandall entertained en-tertained at a well arranged dinner at their home Sunday. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Myron Crandall Cran-dall and- children, Mr. and Mrs. John Crandall, Jr., and son Condie, Mr. and Mrs. S. L, Mendenhall, Jr., and family and Mr. and Mrs. Seorge Crandall , and son and daughter. ' Members of the Social Twelve Card club spent an enjoyable eve-' eve-' ning Thursday at the home of Mrs. Bert Rowland. Three tables of progressive-auction bridge were arranged ar-ranged and during the games prizes were awarded to Mrs. Joseph Grant and Mrs. Will Brown. A delicious de-licious luncheon was served by the hostess at 11:30 o'clock. Following the lunch a short business meeting was held at which Mrs. Hugh Baxter Bax-ter was elected president for the ensuing year , and Mrs. Joseph Grant, secretary and treasurer. Urquhart of (his city announce the engagement engage-ment of their son, Lyman Paul, to Miss Helen Shank of Pasadena, Calif. The marriage to take place , in the near future. j I i N. I. Urquhart was hostess to members of the Kensington club of the Springville Community church at her home last Tuesday afternoon. Knivers, the Jatter two being invited in-vited guests, An enjoyable evening was spent by the Legion .auxiliary members at the home of Mrs. Cleona Miner Wednesday evening. , Mrs. Virgil Hafen was assisting hostess. . A special. feature of the meeting, was a talk on "Legislature" by Glenn D. Woodmansee. Roe McCurdy, Roy McKenzie and Will Parry entertained en-tertained with; instrumental music and Miss Phyilis Smart, gave a reading. It was annual initiation night and Florence Boyer,- Helen Reynolds- Fern Whiting, Mary Weight, and Helen Crandall were welcomed as new members of the auxiliary.. Presidet LaPreal Friel presided. Concluding the meeting a dainty lunch was served by the hostess to 22 members present. . I Mrs. Vina Pierce and daughter have returned to their home in Beaver after spending several days with relatives and friends here. Mrs.- Arthur Finley, Mrs. G. D. I Kennedy and Miss Cleo Pierce were luncheon guests one day of the past ! week of Mrs. George A. Anderson. Mrs. Ida Bird,' Mrs Mabel Law and Mrs. Elsie Condie went to Salt Lake Friday to visit their brother, Eastham .Clegg, who recently underwent un-derwent a major operation at the L: D. S. hospital. They were accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. G. S. Condie and Arthur Condie. Members of the Alpha Beta club will be- entertained Friday afternoon, after-noon, Jan. 16, at the home of Mrs. E. E Knudsen. A nice program is arranged for the day and all mem-, bers are invited to be present. Following the dance at Mapleton on Thursday evening, Robert Harrison Har-rison entertained a number of young people at his home. A delicious delic-ious chili supper followed by games and music were enjoyed. Guests included Miss Lillian Bird, Miss Elaine Bird, Miss Margaret Holley of Mapleton, Miss' Lota Paxman, Miss Leah Farrer of Provo,' and Leo Harmer, Clark Madsen, Fred Clyde, Ray Jenkins and the -host.
