Contagious abortion is a diseasc which is wide spread and which has taken tremendous losses among cattle today. There are a few demonstration dem-onstration hums in Utah county now being established which are becoming free from this disease. Tuberculosis is under very good j control, taking the United States as! a whole. Systematic work began in Utah county about 1925 and last year, about five-tenths of one percent per-cent were found to be infected. Only the communities of Salem, Springville and part of Provo have been tested for the year 1931. Dr. C. L. Jones of the U. S. B. A. I. is in the county now ready to begin be-gin his work in testing cattle for tuberculosis and farmers may now soon look for a schedule for the testing in their various districts. The schedule will soon be made up and published. FLOWING WELLS As one drives around the county during the cold weather a great many flowing wells are in sight and running continuously and the watV is going to waste. This should be stopped as Mother Nature is at the present time doing her best to fill up this large reservoir in the earth's surface. As these wells are allowed to run continuously dur ing the winter it is just draining the water out of this reservoir which is of great need to the crops during the summer, months. Cooperation Co-operation is aeked of all farmers, to close their flowing wells down.
