Show Penney Manager To Attend Denver Store Convention C. W. Busard, manager of the J. C. Penney Co. Springville store is attending the annual spring convention con-vention of. that organization to be i held at Denver, Colo. Owing to the new conditions in . the department store field which have been brought about by drastic reductions in commodity prices, the convention, which is usually held in April, has been moved ahead to give all J. C. Penney Co. store managers an opportunity to get full advantage of the new merchandising mer-chandising and price policies of the company. Price reductions running as high as 40 percent in many staple lines of merchandise handled by .the organization, or-ganization, have already been announced an-nounced and further announcements announce-ments regarding new price and quality standards may be expected, according to Mr. Busard Eight general convention points have been selected for the spring meetings, covering all parts of the country, the catern tour being under un-der the direction of A. W. Hughes, assistant to Earl C. Sams, president presi-dent of the Penney, organization, and the western tour under the direction di-rection of George Mitchell of the personnel division of the New York office. A notable feature of the conventions conven-tions will be the elimination of the usual buying sessions and the substitution sub-stitution of additional programs devoted de-voted to selling methods and service ser-vice standards. Nearly 1500 managers will attend the convention session which will cover more than 60 percent of the retail trade area of the United States. |
