The coming of this machine marks the long-looked for change in marketing mar-keting conditions of a fruit in this i territory. Utah growers realize that ' in order to compete with .growers of I other states they must grade and size and properly pack their fruit for market. Several marketing associations of the state are now considering the purchase of a machine of some sort and have declared their intention to visit the Pleasant Grove demonstration demon-stration next Friday and see if the machine will meet their needs. DEMONSTRATES FRUITGRADING A fruit grading demonstration for all the fruit growing areas of the states will be held at Pleasant Grove Friday, September 6, at 2 o'clock p. m. The only up-to-date modern grading machine in the state will be in full operation. No fruit grower in Utah county can afford to miss it The time has been arranged so that it will cost the grower but two or three hours of his time. There will be In attendance growers, grow-ers, county agents and farm bureau men from all the fruit growing counties of the state. The farm bureau is sending an expert to speak on "Cooperative Marketing." The Agricultural college is sending an expert to speak on preparing fruit for market. The Pleasant Grove association as-sociation agrees to treat the visitors visit-ors to watermelons. The grader is a model "B-B" from the Cutler Manufacturing company of Portland, Ore. It is designed for handling two or three grades for quality and at the same time two, three or four sizes in each grade in addition to delivering undersigned ; fruit and culls to proper containers. Its working capacity is 128 bushels per hour. It is run by a half-horse power electric motor. The factory has sent an expert to supervise the installation of the machine, train the packing bouse crew, and super- |
