Show UTAH SHIPPERS PLEADCAUSE Discrimination Is Charged By Utah Coal Shipper At Rail Hearing. SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 20 OLE) A charge that the Southern Pacific railroad is not treating Utah shippers ship-pers fairly in making rates was made at an Interstate Commerce hearing here today. W. K. Prickett, Utah coal producer pro-ducer association official, in testifying testi-fying at the hearing on the application appli-cation of the Great Northern and Western Pacific for permission to construct a 200 mile line between Klamath Falls, Ore., and Keddie, Calif., made the charge. Prickett said that granting permission per-mission to complete the link would mean a saving of approximately one dollar a ton in coal shipped from Utah to Oregon and Washington points. Prickett's testimony was vigor-; vigor-; ously objected to by Southern Pacific Pa-cific counsel, the point .of objection being that the hearing was not in session for the purpose of fixing rates. Preceding Prickett on the stand were L. S. Earley of the Utah Manufacturing association, G. A. Henderson, U. S. Department of Agriculture, Klamath Falls; J. W. Kerns, Klamath Falls merchant, and County Judge Fred R. Goddard, of Klamath Falls. , |
