Show j "LOVES OF CARMEN" i FIRST KODl CTION AT i R1VOLI THEATER 1 There have been many unique i sets built for use in the production of a motion picture, but the prize or stagecraft in the studios goes to B'ox Films for the construction of a mountain range used in filming film-ing "Lovers of Carmen," a screen version of "Carmen," made under the direction of Raoui Walsh. Location "finders" searched vainly vain-ly for such a range. Weeks of time v-i-rc spent in the attempt to locate a natural spot for the gypsy camp, in which much of the dramatic action ac-tion is laid. Finally, Fox studio technical experts were called and the huge set was planned. The set, when finished, was nearly near-ly one-half a mile in length. At the extreme end of the canyon-like ef-I ef-I feet towered a ' mountain range which defied description. The natural nat-ural appearance of the great granite gran-ite peaks brought enthusiastic comment com-ment from every dictator on the Fox "lot." The feat represented an expendi- ture of thousands' of dollars, but the results more than justified the j gieat expense. The fact that such a master stroke of stagecraft was I made, permitted the filming of J many dramatic sequences which would have lost value had the background back-ground been unsatisfactory in appearance. ap-pearance. Victor McLageri, Dolores de Rio Don Alvarado, Ben Bard, Dorothy Rtvier, Nancy Nash, Jack Sebas tian, Mathilde Comont, Fred Kah-lor Kah-lor and Ralph Sipperly are cast in the principal roles. "Loves of Carmen" Car-men" will be shown at the Rivoli theater for two days, commencing Dec. 22. A number of friends motored tc Provo Thursday evening and delightfully de-lightfully surprised Mr. , and Mrs R. A. Hansen, who recently moved there from Springville.
