Show ..iNSlVE PLANS UNDER WAY FOR FARMERS ROUNDUP TO BE HELD HERE FEB. 18, 19 Theimportance of (he priesthood in the development of the young Latter-day Saints, temple marriages and temple ordinances formed the central themes of the quarterly conference con-ference of the Kolob stake held here Saturday and Sunday. President G. H. Maycock presided at the various sessions. The visiting vis-iting members of the general authorities author-ities of the church were Kit-hard It. Lyman of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and Dr. George W. Middlcton, of the Ensign stake high council. The ojK'ning session of the conference con-ference was held in the high school nudltprium. Following the opening exercises the members of the priesthood priest-hood adjourned to the Second ward chapel. The speakers were President Presi-dent Maycock, George L. Hyde, who spoke on "How to Maintain Interest in the Quorum Meetings" ; D. C. ' Alleman, whose theme was "Why We Keep Kecords;" Gordon Cran-dall Cran-dall and Wayne Johnson, who apoke on "How Wo Make Our Quorum Successful." The problem of Interesting Inter-esting men nnd boys of all classes was discussed by William T. Tew, Jr. At the Saturday afternoon session of the conference the priest hood-by hood-by William Bringhurst, Jr., deacon quorums met and were addressed of the Third ward. His theme was - "How a deacon's quorum can assist the Bishop," In response Bishop J. Emmett spoke on "How a Bishop . Can Cse Ordained Teachers and Priests." Ivan W. Young spoke on "Social Opportunities of Priesthood Quorums." Other speakers and their subjects were: Howard Bird "What the Priesthood Means to Me ; George A. SimUins, "The Value of the Priesthood as Shown in Temple Marriages and Tempi" ( rdin-ances;" rdin-ances;" Pros. J. Frank Bringhurst, "Temple Marriages." El tier Lyman was the concluding speaker. Allan Keynolds. recently returned re-turned from the British mission; William T. Tew, principal of the Kolob stake seminary, Dr. M'ddle-ton M'ddle-ton and Elder Lyman. The evening meeting wi:s under the direction of the M. I. A. Dr. Middleton gave a splendid illustrated illustrat-ed lecture on the life of Abraham Lincoln. Music for the occasion was furnished by students from the Brigham Young university school of music. |
