Show SPRINGVILLE SPORTSMEN TO JOIN OUTING Membership Drive To Be Conducted ; Trap Shooters Go To Geneva Members of the Springville Fish and Game Protective association will attend the annunl outing of the state fish and game protwtiv'o associations asso-ciations at Geneva resort tomorrow and Saturday. This decision was reached at a meeting of the local sportsmen held in the Library building Wednesdav evening. William Grooms presided at the meeting which was well attended. at-tended. A large delegation of Springville men will participate in the various sports and contests,, and they will wear a large white handkerchief. hand-kerchief. Cliff Wright was appointed captain cap-tain of the trap shooting squad and the local sportsmen will enter this event in full regalia. A committee comprised of Wylie Gledhill nnd J. F. Wingate was appointed to tag the members at the gate and- sell fo them membership cards. All sportsmen of Springville will be nsked to take out membership in the local association this year. "One hundred members for 1920," is the slogan of the Springville association as-sociation It is expected that 12,000 lovers of the great outdoors are expected to be in attendance. The activities activi-ties of the big jubilee will officially official-ly begin this evening with a enr-nval enr-nval dance. However, the majority ma-jority of the sportsmen will not begin be-gin to assemble at the popular lakeside lake-side resort until Saturday morning. Saturday's program is a varied one nnd will consist or a horseshoe pitching tournament at 2 o'clock for singles nnd 4 o'clock for doubles. From 3 to 5 o'clock a catfishing contest con-test will be held in which prizes will be awarded for the best catfish, the largest, smallest, etc. Throughout Through-out the afternoon the trap shooters will be allowed to practice at the clay pigeons over the four newly installed traps. In the evening the state association associa-tion will stage a dance. Gus Becker of Ogden. fancy shooter, who was represented in the Olympic contests, will show a moving picture of "Outdoors "Out-doors in Utah," a film giving an instructive) in-structive) as well as entertaining history of fine game shooting. The feature event Sunday will consist of a monster trap shooting joust beginning promptly at 8 o'clock in the morning. A professional profes-sional will be in charge of each of the four new traps and the committee com-mittee in charge expects an entry list larger thnn the world's record made a month ago at a San Francisco Fran-cisco shoot, in which 533 took part. More than- 100 prizes will be awarded. award-ed. . A baseball game between boys of Weber and Salt Lake counties will be played at 9 :30 o'clock, which will he followed by races, stunts and freak relay competition, including all classes of entrants, whether old or young, fat or lean. In- the neighborhood neigh-borhood of eighty prizes will be given giv-en to successful contestants. Prizes will also be offered for fly casting nnd bait casting, for the most practical camp, to the member who came from the most distant point to the outing, to the oldest member of the state organization, to the member catching the biggest nnd smallest catfish. The entire assemblage will join in refreshments at noon. More athletic events will take up the major portion of the afternoon. One of the greatest attractions in the afternoon sports will be the duck catching contest in which several sev-eral ducks are carried in sacks out from the beach and released in the shallow water, and the contestants are supposed to catch them. A number will be attached to the leg of each duck entitling the holder to a prize. Dancing of the four colored experts ex-perts will start at 3:30 o'clock with exhibitions in the Charleston, Buck nnd Wing. Southern Cake Walk and others. Several boxing and wrestling wrest-ling matches wdll be promoted by the West Athletic club of Salt Lake City. Immediately following an invitational in-vitational mat tourney will be conducted. con-ducted.
