APPOINTMENT IS ANNOUNCED Martin Strebel, 238 East Fifth South, has been named a deputy sheriff by appoitnemcnt of Sheriff J. D. Boyd, according to announcement announce-ment made Monday. He was formerly for-merly a salesman for a local automotive auto-motive products concern. Strebel takes the place of Deputy Sheriff George Davis, who has been transferred to Dividend to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation resigna-tion of Deputy Sheriff C. D. Coates. Coates, who has been a peace officer for more than 20 years, has resigned to take a position posi-tion in California. The changes were approved by the county commission at the Monday Mon-day session, effective as of September Sep-tember 1.
