Show COMMITTEE IN HOUSE NAMED SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 16 (IT) An effort on fhe part of Representative Repre-sentative Charles B. Tetty of Washington county to bring about reconsideration of the house's action ac-tion Monday in ordering an investigation inves-tigation of charges involving the racing commission and slate fair board, fniled late yesterday afternoon after-noon and Speaker S. M. Jorgensen named five members of the house to serve on this committee. il- H. CoHch of Morgan -county was named chairman of the, special investigating committee, and the other members include George H. Ryan of Juab, L. J. Holther of Weber, A. W. Hansen of Boxeliler and B. I). Anderson of Salt Lake. Petty sought to get permission to make a motion to reconsider the racing investigation action about the middle of tflie afternoon, but was ruled out of order. At close of the session be renewed renew-ed his motion, claiming that no specific charge had been made by anyone against anyone; that a mem- ber had only repeated rumor and hearsay, branding it as such, that the racing commission was now abolished, and that there is much other work to do and little time to do it. McCullough said that the investigation inves-tigation would undoubtedly take on a political aspect, but, he thought all were entitled to have it proceed that the truth might he known. Woodruff said he feared the house was letting the governor drag It into something that it bad no business to get into nnd he was in favor of reconsidering. |
